Today is the first day of November — a month to give thanks!

This month we reflect on the past year; we remind ourselves; how thankful we are to have another trip around the sun and everything we experienced this year.

Thank was another interesting year, but the majority of us still have a great deal to be thankful for.

A large part of the year we can be thankful for is the food and toiletries we have in our home.

More than 38 million people faced hunger in 2020, and 12 million were children[1]. 1 in 3 families cannot afford a pack of diapers for their child[2]. In 2013 it was reported 34% of families could not afford basic non-food items; laundry soap, shampoo, home cleaning aids, etc[3].

These numbers continue to grow each year, even tripling due to the global pandemic.

Even though we cannot solve this problem overnight — we can come together and help. This month put together a box of items you’re thankful for — the non-perishable foods in your cabinet, toiletries in your bathroom, and household items you love. Then drop the items off at your local food bank.

Don’t have the space for a box or have the time to drop it off? Every day add an item to an Amazon List and then ship the box to your local food bank; if you have Prime shipping, the shipping will be frree!

Remember, the items do not have to be expensive; below are all items you can donate that are under $15.

Maybe that’s a little bit of work? Donate to your local food bank! Don’t know your local food bank? Feed America has a local food bank finder, or you can donate to Feed America, and they distribute the money where needed.
