Billie, yet another razor subscription service, and another recurring bill you’ll forget about. But, should you try it?

Just like everyone around the world in March I was stuck inside my house being bombarded with ADs, you know those ones “We’re all in this together, buy THIS“.

Well along with those ADs, I was also served up a number of subscription service ADs; Quip, Bones Coffee, MeUndies, Trade Coffee, the list could seriously go and on. Not only TV ADs but banner ads all over the internet.

Subscription services are most definitely not going away, and I’m all for them, they are helpful. But man they really are pushing for you to subscribe and forget.

Anyways, let’s get back on track here, Billie Razor subscription service. Is the subscription worth it? Is it a bust like the Dollar Shave club? Is the service worth it for someone who also does not shave as much, like me?

The answer is yes, yes it is worth it. If you read my post Should You Try Dollar Shave Club, if you haven’t click here, you know that I do not shave often and I already enjoy a specific disposable razor from Target.

So what changed my mind from the bad experience with Dollar Shave Club to a nice YES with Billie? Well besides the number of ADs I was served up.

Well first let’s just say the Billie razor heads are very nice. The blades are nickel-free and sharp! No issues with dual razors, nor them rusting while hanging in the shower. Also, the razor heads are wrapped in a charcoal shave soap, which helps with a nice glide and provides a deep clean.

With the nicer blades, I do find that I do not have to shave as often as I did with the Dollar Shave Club razor blades. They last much longer as well, not giving me razor burn after the first use.

Billie also provides you with a magnetic holder that you can stick to any surface, and the arm will stick to the holder. My magnetic holder is hung in my shower for easy access while shaving.

However, if by chance an item in your shower falls knocking your razor off the holder into a space that collects little puddles of water in your shower and the razor sits in that little puddle of water an issue arises. That nice charcoal shaves soap warps like most soap does while sitting in water, ruining that nice new razor head you put on.

So let’s talk about the price! Your Billie welcome kit is $9 which includes; a handle, holder, and two blades. Your refill packs include four cartridges for $9; you can have them shipped every month, two months, or three months. I went with the three-month plan since I do not shave that often. At $9 a refill, three times a month that’s $36, I do not find that price bad at all. If you go with the every month subscription plan, that’s $108 a month and two months would be $54. Every month plan seems a little bit outrageous in the price for me, but not bad if you do shave every day. Every two months isn’t too bad, you can give up an iced coffee or two when you’re out. All in all the price is not too bad, they even offer free shipping.

With my Billie welcome kit, I had also purchased The Shave Cream. The Shave Cream is made with; aloe, shea butter, olive oil, and sage. You do not need a lot, only a small dollop, the size of your pinky fingernail for each leg. It leaves legs smooth, and soft after each shave. Sometimes I’ll rub The Shave Cream on in the shower and let it sit, then just rinse it off, it gives a nice cooling sensation while also helping with my dry skin.

Lastly, can we note that their packaging is really nice! From the first introduction box to the replacement cartridges! Presentation really is everything, their graphic design team does a great job.

Another positive about Billie, they give back. Not only are they helping fight The Pink Tax, but they also donate 1% of their revenue to giving back. Billie has donated to organizations like; Black Lives Matter, the NAACP, and BIPOC[1]. They are continuing to support organizations to help with gender and racial equality.

At the end of the day, I would recommend Billie, and I think you should give the razor a try.

One last note, please remember that razors are recyclable, and can be turned into other items. Please consider signing up for the razor recycling program by TerraCycle[2].
