We recently had a chance to visit the Split Rock Resort at Lake Harmony in the Poconos.

I’ll have to say that the Split Rock Resort did not disappoint in any way, especially in the icy cold winter.

To note that Zoie and I have never been to the Poconos before, our Split Rock was our very first time. First, note the closest Target was 35 minutes away, and Sheetz was 33 minutes away. So if you do forget anything and or need gas for your car note this. I did not know any of this and had like 5 miles to go before I was empty when we were about to leave.

So let’s get into our stay at the Split Rock Resort. There are multiple areas at the Split Rock Resort — the first couple of hours you may need a map to navigate the resort. We stayed at the newly renovated Lodge at Lake Harmony in a Junior Suite overlooking the lake. The Lodge is three miles from the main area. The Lodge has three stories and has less of the hustle and bustle of the main hotel. It gives you the vintage vibe of a ski lodge you see in the movies, with cool flickering lights in the hallway. To compare — if you’re from Pittsburgh the lodge gave me a relaxed Lawrenceville vibe. The room has exposed brick, vintage golden curtains, and simplistic furniture. The large painting next to the table of the lake gave a nice pop to the room.

The lodge also has a pool, sauna, and hot tub! This area does have towels, so no need to bring them down from your room. Also, there is a changing area; showers, and bathroom for you to use while there. Though they have renovated, they are going to keep going with expansions. In the coming months in the pool area, they will be adding in a spa. There will be massages, pedicures, manicures, and facials; you’ll never want to leave.

My favorite part about staying at the lodge; was the shower! I know, weird, the shower was the best part, not the comfy bed, beautiful view, and all the storage. But hear me out here! At first, I thought the shower pressure and temperature were like every other hotel I’ve stayed out, disappointing. After letting the water heat up it was HOT! Just the way I like it, the hotter closer to melting my skin off the better. Not only was the water VERY hot, but it also lasted for a long time, I’m too embarrassed how long I stayed in there, but I did have wrinkled fingerprints. Oh, let me not forget that the showerhead had multiple settings, I could adjust to my height which was perfect for my shoulder which I hurt at the pool. Because sometimes I forget I’m 31 not a small child and my body doesn’t bounce back anymore.

The view out the window was also perfect, especially during sunrise! Please see the photos below. One thing to note is that if you need to sleep in the pitch black there is a blackout motorised curtain. This was not for me, I sleep with a street light right outside of my room. I know there are things that go bump in the night, and the pitch-black is not for me. But, I know a lot of people like that vibe to sleep.

The staff at the Lodge were very friendly, answered my twenty-million questions, and we’re knowledgeable about the resort. Miklos from guest services was such a great guy, he went above and beyond during our stay and I cannot say enough good things about him.

The main part of the Split Rock Resort is called the Galleria or Town Center. The main hotel is located here with a bowling alley, arcade, movie theater, restaurants, water park, and another indoor pool. We enjoyed the bowling alley and arcade after we checked in — after a long drive. The arcade is a little bit confusing, well it was for me. You load up a game card; half of the games take the game card, while the other half you have to use your game card to change for tokens. Games that take the game card tickets are loaded on the card, while the games that take tokens provide paper tickets. Then the paper tickets are fed into the counter, and then the tickets are added to your game card. The arcade has the normal prizes as any arcade. The bowling alley was just a couple of lanes, with bumpers and cool dragons to help the kids to roll. We didn’t have a chance to try ice skating — there was an event at the time in the space. We also did not have a chance to try out the movie theater; however, they have a number of movies and different times throughout the day.

In between the lodge and Town Center, there is a park with; a playground, basketball, baseball, tennis courts, and volleyball. It was very snowy, so we did not have a chance to experience this fun. But, we did get to watch a dog run around in the snow from the car, and that was really fun. Also, there is an outdoor pool, which is being renovated for the summer.

Not only do they have several attractions to visit, but they have so many events going on throughout the resort. We experienced bingo and Disney trivia at the Rock Bar. It was a lot of fun for all ages.

We at the Fusion Bistro for all our meals, not at the H2Oooohh! waterpark and I will have to say I was not disappointed. The pancakes were fluffy, my salmon perfectly cooked (with the skin), and the Mac & Cheese was like Thanksgiving Mac & Cheese! Besides the H2Oooohh! waterpark and the shower, the food was the next best part of visiting Split Rock.

I saved the best part about our trip for last! Yes, Split Rock has two pools, a lake, multiple hot tubs, but nothing will ever beat an indoor water park for me. That’s right Split Rock has an indoor waterpark called H2Oooohh! Since we went in winter we couldn’t go swimming in the lake and the pools don’t have a slide. So we went to H2Oooohh! and it did not disappoint. There are; three large water slides with tubes, a wave pool, a play area with a dump bucket, a toddler area, hot tubs, and a wave rider! All of those fun attractions while enjoying nice breezy summer temperatures. We recently had a chance to visit the Split Rock Resort at Lake Harmony in the Poconos.

When you first walk into the H2Oooohh! waterpark you’re greeted by the front desk workers — where you pay and get your wristbands. You proceed into the H2Oooohh! waterpark, and on the left, you can purchase a locker which we did. It’s super easy, no quarters or key wristlet! In the past, I’ve lost another bracelet to swipe. All you do is swipe your credit card, the machine pops open a locker and you add in a personalized pin. You can access the locker with your pin as many times as you’d like throughout your stay.

Past the lockers, you can go to the left into the locker rooms; which are very large! They have rows of shower stalls, changing rooms, and toilets for everyone to use. Also, they have a couple of changing tables for the little ones. One thing to note is there are no swimsuit dryers; you’ll have to bring a wet bag. You can leave out of the locker room into the H2Oooohh! waterpark. However, if you go to the right from the locker area, you’ll walk down a hallway to the H2Oooohh! waterpark. In this hallway is where you can purchase food, drinks, desserts, and beer. That’s right on the last one they have beer and cocktails! If you can’t make it to the Bahamas this year; go lounge in the hot tub with a beer. Back to the food though; we did have the chance to try several items from the snack shack. The cheeseburgers are the classic poolside burgers and cheese so they were delicious. The cheeseburgers went great with the cheese fries; the classic gooey, not sure it’s cheese. Again, for me this was great; it reminded me of times as a kid by the pool. Lastly, desserts, we had classic orange cream pops, but the best part was the funnel cake fries! That’s right funnel cake fries, powdery goodness! All washed down with a delicious blue raspberry slushie, that turned our mouth blue.

But, enough about the locker room, beer, and delicious funnel cake fries. About the H2Oooohh! waterpark! Noted before the park has a little bit of everything for every age! Large slides for the older kids and parents, note the blue one is in the dark. Like I said before, I’m not a fan of being in the pitch black. I personally enjoyed the orange water slide on the play area; this was due to the fact I didn’t have to carry a tube up to three stories of stairs. I got my steps in on the day we visited with those three flights of steps. Zoie enjoyed the water slide until I told her she had to carry her tube. Besides the slides, she enjoyed liked being splashed with the bucket in the play area.

Zoie tried out the wave rider several times, the first couple of times she face-planted, it was a great laugh for me. After a couple of tires, she did well, not as well as the surfer guy who was there showing everyone up.

In between the slides, play area, and snacks the wave pool was a nice way to just relax while still being in the water. The waves are on a timer so at points you can just enjoy swimming and floating around. The waves are not too intense, so small children can enjoy being closer to shore or out in the deep with a parent.

If you’re not into the waterpark life, but you’re being dragged along? There are also enough tables and chairs to either eat, relax, read, or play on your phone.

Things to remember when you visit the H2Oooohh! waterpark; you need to bring your own towel, towels are not included at the park. I’d also recommend wearing water shoes; it’s a water park and you can slip on anything.

I look forward to going back this summer to try out the lake, outdoor pool, water sports, and mini-golf! Also, as I mentioned before, they are continuing to renovate the Split Rock Resort all of the time. Not only will they be adding a spa; but skiing, tubing, bocce ball, rock climbing, canoeing, bingo, and much more! Make sure to follow them on social media so you know what’s going on.

I’m almost done — with one more thing; I want to say how great the staff was during our stay at Split Rock. Everyone was friendly, helpful, answered all our questions, and easy to interact with. The Split Rock marketing Manager TJ was a rockstar. He helped make our stay happen and was super helpful the whole stay. Not only did he make our stay great, making sure we had everything we need, but he was also helping with the event going on. I could not ask for a better person to work with at Split Rock.

In the end, the Split Rock Resort is great for all types of trips for every age. A day trip to bowl, ice skate, water park or visit the arcade. Weekend trip to have dinner at the Fusion Bistro, drink at the tavern and visit the lake. So go and book your visit today!
