If you know me, you know how much I despise mornings.
Even though I’m older, and wake up earlier than one should, I still cannot get my mornings together & I hate them. The worst part, I work from home and I still hate them!
So what is Tiff’s morning routine? Well let’s just say it happens very slowly, like at a sloths pace.
First, I start my day by waking up usually between 5:00 – 6:30 am. No matter what I do the night before or what time I go to bed my body still wakes itself inside that timeframe.
I then proceed to stretch & flex my body, while still remaining under the covers. Surprise, I grab my phone, check my Slack messages & emails first, I know I didn’t miss anything important because my watch would go off in the middle of the night, but something may have happened. If nothing requires to move out of bed, I proceed to meditate for 20-30 minutes.
Once I have finished meditating I start to drink the remaining water from the water bottle I keep next to my bed. While drinking my water I read for about 30-60 minutes, between fanfics or the stack of books on my nightstand. How long I read depends on what time I woke up, and if any slack or emails come through in this timeframe.
That timeframe is ended with an alarm that goes off at 6:45 am which reminds me I need to get a move on! I’ll roll out of bed; usually, about 10-15 minutes later (let’s be honest), use the restroom and stretch a little more. This leads to about 10-15 minutes of yoga stretching, to get the neck pain out and knees going. I’ll end that will another trip to the restroom to rinse my face & use my face toner on (new addition).
That last step ends with me making my bed! I then proceed to flop on top to check social media, analytics for my blog, and Etsy shop. Sometimes I will doze off, but not for long.
At 8:05 am all of the lights in my house turn on & my Alexa greets me with a good morning and then proceeds to give me my flash briefing. While Alexa talking; I’m getting dressed, brushing my teeth, refilling the humidifier, misting my plants, and making a mental list of what needs to be accomplished for the day.
My phone, laptop, notebook, Zoie, and myself proceed downstairs to make coffee & get breakfast ready. The goal is to have coffee poured, breakfast plated, a to-do list is written, and our morning meeting for the day done by 8:30 am.
8:30 am starts the workday, and we’re off to the races to go until 6:00 pm.
Most days go according to plan, but a couple of days don’t always go according to plan; emergencies come up, things break, internal clocks wake us up earlier (for 2-months I woke up at 4:00 am), power goes out & our Alexa can’t keep us on track.
