One thing for sure is in my house we eat A LOT of mac & cheese!
With a growing 6-year-old and a 29-year-old, who just loves anything with cheese on it, we probably go through 4-6 boxes of mac & cheese a week!
Yea, I know that’s a lot of mac & cheese, you don’t have to tell me, but it’s SO GOOD. A box of mac & cheese with fresh steamed broccoli, pho meat crumbles, or carrot pure (carrots are gross, but need those veggies).
With Annie’s Homegrown costing $2.20 a box at Whole Foods & Target it can get a bit expensive feeding our mac & cheese addiction. So I went on a quest, how can we get this deliciousness but save a bit of money?
The answer was right there, 1lb of Hoosier Hill Farm Big Daddy Mac Mix & 99¢ bags of elbow pasta! With all the ingredients I had calculated we spend around 85¢ a meal, much cheaper!
Ingredients
- 2 Cups of Elbow Pasta
- 1/4 Cup of Hoosier Hill Farm Big Daddy Mac Mix
- 2 Tablespoons of Butter
- 1/4 Cup of Almond Milk
- 4 Cups of Water
Tools
Directions
- Pour the four cups of water into your pot, place lid on top of the pot, place the pot onto the warm stovetop burner and bring water to a boil
- Once the water is boiling remove the lid, and pour the 2 cups of elbow pasta into the water
- Boil the noodles for 10 minutes
- After 10 minutes turn off the stovetop
- Place your colander in the slink and drain your noodles
