I’m not a morning person what so ever, and breakfast is usually a meal I often skip due to time! However, the overnight oats Pinterest craze changed my life!
Oatmeal is seriously one food I cannot stand, the texture, the smell, it’s like a glob of textured paste! When I started seeing posts for overnight oats I just ignored them, it was just another fad everyone was trying.
Until I saw an iBotta coupon for a FREE Quaker Oats Overnight Oats, I thought well why not give it a try? Grabbed the Quaker Overnight Oats Blueberry Banana & Vanilla Bliss & threw it in the cart.
Once I got home I poured the almond milk in, replaced the lid, placed in the fridge and went about my night. The next morning I grabbed the container, placed it in my lunch bag and went to work. Grabbed my morning coffee and opened the overnight oats, to my surprise they were REALLY good!
Now I just make my own overnight oats, because well it’s cheaper than the Quaker Oats Overnight Oats for $1.59 & it’s simpler!
For plain overnight oats, you’ll use 1/2 cup of oats & 1/2 a cup of almond milk! To add a little flavor: add a tablespoon of jam, a tablespoon of fresh maple syrup or a tablespoon of agave! For extra fiber, I recommend adding a dash of whole flaxseed.
Make sure to let sit in a sealed container (preferably a glass container) for a minimum of 12 hours! After the overnight oats have sat for 12+ hours you can add nuts and/or fruit to your overnight oats, and enjoy with a spoon!
I purchase the 365 Value Rolled Oats for $5.29, which I can make 11 batches of overnight oats! With 11 batches of overnight oats, that’s 49¢ just for the oats. Almond milk cost $1.99 a cartoon, that’s 8 batches for just 29¢! Those two ingredients, it’s just a total of 78¢ per meal, which you cannot beat on a budget!
There are so many delicious recipes out there for overnight oats! My favorite way to enjoy overnight oats is with a tablespoon of lingonberry jam! I’ve even made overnight oats with chocolate protein powder, they tasted delicious and it was like the powder wasn’t even in the oats!
Tell me, what is your favorite way to enjoy overnight oats?!
